Life lessons

I admit to my anal retentiveness and/or obsessive-compulsiveness. Once I left a pen at a friend's house, and that's all I could think about for the next three hours, because I wanted it back so badly. I even asked her twice to check for it when she got home. I doubt she'll give it back to me. I will even go back into the house to check the stove after I've already put my shoes on and even if I know I didn't use it.

Whenever I get gas, no matter what the prices are, I like to go to Shell so I can use my airmiles card. However, when I'm driving in an unfamiliar city or on a street where I'm not of which gas stations are there, I usually just end up going to the first one I see (which is NEVER a Shell). Then, when I finish gassing up, I invariably always see a Shell down the road.

And, it always seems to be the very last gas station in the row of stations that I pass.

After doing this about 5 or 6 times, the next time I decided that I would just wait, drive all the way to the end and see if there was a Shell, and if not, then turn back. Yesterday I tried this theory remembering that I did pass a Shell along this route somewhere a few months ago. Well....

Try doing this at rush hour where to make a left hand turn into the station would have taken years (everyone was going the opposite way than I was). So I passed the station until I got to the next stop light, turned around and headed back towards the Shell.....until I realized.....that of course, it was closed for repairs or gas re-filling or whatever. So now I was actually stuck in the rush hour traffic with no gas. 20 minutes later, I had gas and was on the highway.

One of the machines I still have a hard time using is the dishwasher. Our family hardly ever uses our dish washer. I can never figure out why you can't STOP the dishwasher once you've turned it to a setting. And I can't turn the knob to "Drying" without passing "Rinse" and hence, starting the dishwasher again.

Packing dilemma

How do you pack for a 3 day trip to Colorado (where it is currently -11, but supposed to be +10 by Saturday) followed by a 3 day trip to Vancouver (where it is currently 5, but supposed to be ??? when I get there). And it is currently -20 in Toronto. It's all about layering.

And figuring out how to pack 8 days worth of clothes into one small duffel bag. Plus my laptop. Will have to figure that one out.

I was eating dinner today at Swiss Chalet, and making funny faces at the little girl at the table in front of mine. The person I was with thought I was trying to pick up. Yeah right. She was really cute though.

My friend just told me that Valentine's Day should be called cupcake day, so that everyone can celebrate and be happy. I agree. Valentine's Day is always associated with the colour red. Halloween - orange and black. Christmas - red and green. St. Patrick's Day - green. Canada Day - red and white. Easter - pastel colours. How about......Victoria Day?

Nuts

I feel really lucky that I do not have a nut allergy. I love peanut butter.

That is all.

Quickie

Two things. Both make me admire those with real talent.

1. Went to see Half Nelson today. Ryan Gosling truly is a great actor. Even though I have not seen the Notebook yet.

2. Go to www.idigincubus.com and view the finalist videos. Some of them are really good. And so is incubus. I love them.
