full of yummy goodness
Today was a day of pure gluttony. Big family reuinion in Toronto, with a table for 14 at the restaurant for dim sum. Funnily though, there were no cousins there my age as they had all managed to disappear. My sister went to San Fransisco yesterday with her boyfriend for New Years, and my other cousing was in Hong Kong on some testosterone-driven, gung ho asian tour. Glad he didn't get hit by the tsunamis or it would be a sad sad Christmas. All the married cousins except one couple didn't show up either. So it was me and a bunch of adults, plus a step-cousin and her 7-year old daughter.
Lunch was pretty good, but of course with 14 people it takes a long time and a lot of food before everyone is happy. Plus, the restaurant smells of fried/steamed/boiled chinese food and you smell like fried/steamed/boiled chinese food for the rest of the day.
After lunch we went back to my uncle's house to chill out. With tea and cookies and chesnuts. Who needs to eat more??? Needless to say I passed out on the floor while 3 children ran around the house screaming at the top of their lungs.
Break to 2 hours later, when we decide to have dinner. Yay! Still full from lunch thank you. Interestingly, of all the places in Toronto to eat dinner, we choose to go back to the same restaurant for reasons that will escape me for years to come. Guess if it was good the first time it's bound to be good the next time, right? Having dwindled down our party to a size of 9, we head back to the restaurant only to find that half of it has been taken over by a wedding party....on a Monday night. That is the second year in a row that I have tried to go to a Chinese restaurant during Christmas holidays on a Monday and getting shot down by a wedding. If anyone can tell me about the mysteries of Monday weddings please let me know.
Anyways, dinner was alright. Definitely not worth smelling like fried/steamed/boiled food for the rest of the night.
